Fire Buff Photography with Jim Peruta

Today we welcome Jim Peruta, a 45 year veteran of the Volunteer Fire Buff Photography Scene.   Jim shares his wisdom and shares how he captures the incredible images he posts on his site, res23cue.net.

Becoming a Fire Buff Photographer

Jim has a lot of advice for anyone who is looking to become a volunteer Fire Buff Photographer.   We discuss how to form a relationship with your local fire departments and what types of pictures they normally like to receive.

The biggest takeaways from this advice is to stay out of the way, respect anyone of authority, and do not take any pictures of victims.

Equipment

Jim uses several radios, apps, and photo gear to make his photographs what they are.  However, if you are just starting out, Jim says there is no camera like the one you have in your pocket.
