The Uniden BC200XLT
The BC200XLT is the one scanner that will always have a special place in my collection.
This was the scanner that introduced me to more of what was possible with scanning than any radio before it.
What you need to know
The first scanner that I purchased on my own in 1994.
The BC200XLT was released in 1992 and came with the scanner, a 12v wall plug which also charged the included NiCad battery pack that slid on the bottom of the scanner. It also came with a general receive BNC antenna, a leather carrying case, and a very cheap ear plug.
Of course, this was also the days when manuals came standard with the scanners.
To learn more about why this scanner holds a special place on my shelf, please listen to this week’s podcast
