Field Day – Amateur Radio’s Open House!

If you’ve never been on the air or if you are interested in checking out what Amateur Radio is all about (and if you live in the US), check out Field Day.

What you need to know

Field Day is a contest. The more contacts you make, the more points you get… and it is by far the most popular and publicized event featuring Ham Radio.

But besides being a contest, Field Day is where Amateur Radio operators practice their skills.  They operate using emergency power, on temporary antennas, in sometimes uncomfortable conditions.

Field Day is a day to practice getting on the air, making contacts, enjoying a good BBQ, and seeing some old friends that maybe only come out of the woodwork once a year.
